We had another fantastic turn at our latest practical security seminar, delegates from theatre, cinema, museums, galleries and sports venues, who joined us at Soho Hotel, in the heart of London's West End.
With the clock ticking until the 25 May 2018 when GDPR will apply in the UK, our expert panel formed of Ben Rapp, founder of Managed Networks, Andrew Sharp from Jampot Audience Intelligence, Philip James from Sheridans and chaired by Terri Paddock from StageFaves, discussed and gave practical advice about GDPR and its implications.
They looked at how to help organisations achieve and maintain correct data sharing policies and processes, proper cyber-security and steps to avoid reputation damage. They also highlighted the importance of asking "who is responsible" to ensure that companies avoid potentially huge fines that can result from data breaches and compliance failures. The Q&A encouraged the audience to think about their company's current systems, networks and procedures.
A few questions from the delegates
"How do I manage de-duplication of data and consents with two different booking systems?"
"How is my IT network going to support and manage all of these new changes?"
"What's the balance on keeping data - should we delete it or keep it? And in regards to DSAR, how long should we keep it for?"
Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if any of these questions apply to you.
"I found the seminar excellent. It was clear, well-paced and extremely informative.
Ben's expertise is beyond question and the fact that he implicitly understands the world of theatres and their challenges, means the information is more relevant than anyone else can offer. Miss it at your peril. "
Simon Hassell, Commercial Director, The Stage
"Managed Networks has built an enviable reputation for securely managing and hosting IT networks. They’ve hosted several GDPR seminars for the arts, culture and live entertainment sectors, a world in which they have considerable expertise, gained over many years.
The seminar content has been valuable and we’ve engaged Ben’s company Securys to review our data security in preparation for the arrival of the GDPR."
